September 19 15:24 2017

Istanbul, Turkey – 19 September, 2017 – Turkey has ramped up its spending on digital English language learning tools as part of a bid to boost the digital skills of its students across all levels and raise the quality of education standards overall.

In support of this goal, leading local and international education experts will converge at GESS Turkey to conduct workshops for teachers on a variety of digital learning tools and techniques.

Taking place for the very first time in Turkey, GESS is a global series of education exhibitions and conferences taking place in key cities around the world, such as Dubai, UAE; Mexico City, Mexico and Jakarta, Indonesia.

The aim is to support the growth of the education sectors in these developing markets. Turkey is at an important phase in developing its education system and its aggressive push to adopt the latest digital tools and techniques to improve teaching and learning is expected to give current initiatives a major boost, said Matt Thompson, F&E Education, organisers of GESS Turkey scheduled on 19-21 October at the WOW Istanbul Convention Centre.

Since 2013, Turkey has been the largest digital English language learning country in the Middle East, according to Ambient Insights latest industry research. By 2018, Turkey will account for 34% of all digital English language learning spend in the Middle East valued at $72.6 million, almost double the $32 million it spent five years ago.

This growth is driven largely by a programme launched by the Turkish government to equip over 15 million students with tablets and replaced all print-based textbooks digital content, such as e-books and online courses.

At GESS Turkey, education professionals will benefit from a number of workshops and presentations by leading education technology experts who will lead sessions on virtual and augment reality applications in the classroom, harnessing Gsuite tools for optimised teaching and learning as well as STEAM education.

Meanwhile, education decision makers will have the chance to engage local and international suppliers who will be showcasing the latest products and solutions for Turkeys growing education market, including software tools and digital equipment designed to enhance teaching effective and learning performance of students.
